Seventy-Two Investment Professionals Achieve TopGun Status

TORONTO, ON, August 13th, 2012 (TopGun Press) – Brendan Wood International today announced the results of its annual search for the TopGun Investment Minds based in Canada. During personal interviews, TopGuns were selected by their counterparties namely, BWI’s Panel of the leading sell-side analysts and sales professionals. The Panel includes more than 700 investment professionals who do business with the selected TopGuns on a daily basis and see their investment decision making in process. In addition to their rigorous analysis of the companies they cover, the Panel singled out 72 Canadian Investment Professionals who on a competitive basis ranked highest for investment wisdom and professionalism according to the Panel. “This is not a popularity contest. The confidential ratings assigned to individual investment professionals by the Panel are disciplined to distinguish ‘Best in Class’ according to each Panelist. The number of nominees accepted from each Panelist is strictly limited and TopGun status is awarded on the basis of the frequency of individual nominations. These disciplines establish the objectivity of selection and reinforce the fundamental criterion of respected professionalism in the investment community as a whole. Of over 800 potential candidates, 482 investment professionals received nominations and of the nominees 72 individuals attained TopGun status representing nine percent of the total universe,” said Amanda Knott, Manager – BWI Panel.

The most common themes cited by the Panel which distinguish TopGuns include independent thinking and willingness to buck the trends, knowing the investment space best, diligent work ethic, being trusted and respected and adding to the knowledge and civility of the investment community at large.

Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, CI Investments and RBC Global Asset Management again achieved TopGun Team Status this year with six TopGuns each along with returning TopGun Teams Connor, Clark & Lunn with five TopGuns and Sentry Investments with four. Fiera Capital Corporation and RBC’s Phillips Hager & North reached TopGun Team Status for the first time with four TopGuns apiece.
