Global Consumer Products TopGun Investment Minds Announced by Brendan Wood International
PALM BEACH, FL, March 17, 2011 (TOPGUN PRESS) – Brendan Wood International today announced the results of its search for the TopGun Investment Minds in the Consumer Products sector. Citing the importance of a world view and the relevance of emerging markets in particular, the 600 leading analysts who cast their votes in Brendan Wood’s global poll separated the few from the many in this sector of investing. In recent markets, the acquisition of brands and the expansion into emerging markets have been significant themes.
Sell-side analysts’ ballots were stringent in their assessment of “insight.” Nominations clearly favored investors who had a deep understanding of emerging market economics and new-market vistas, where brands may or may not mean what they mean elsewhere. Acquisitions can be expensive and may not produce the accretive asset value hoped for. Organizational effectiveness is not a given in merged-company scenarios and acquired brands need strong ongoing management. The TopGun Investment Minds selected this year were cited as those who wrestled these questions best and had a stronger feel for industry, product and company economics.

Hedge funds Citadel Group and SAC Capital Advisors lead the US Consumer Products group with two TopGuns each: Brandon Haley and Jim Hoeg from Citadel Group and Harry Schwefel and Martin Zinny from SAC Capital Advisors. Karen Grimes of Wellington Management and Josh Cummings of Putnam Investments were the lone 2006 TopGuns continue their designation.
